Home Reading

We want to encourage all our children to enjoy and engage with books and reading and we ask you to support this process through our Home Reading Scheme. Children have the opportunity to use books from school OR home and their progress needs to be recorded in their Home Reading Record Book. The reading record will be monitored in school each week as often as possible so we will need Reading Record Books to be returned to school every Friday*The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you will go. *

P.E

This term we have P.E. on Thursdays. The children should have a white T-shirt, black/navy shorts and a pair of pumps (football kits are not allowed). The children should be changing their clothes for PE now so something comfortable should be provided for them. Trainers can also be included for outdoor sports. Please make sure that PE kits are in a bag and all items are clearly named.  (Just a reminder that our school policy clearly states no jewellery, for safety reasons).

Curriculum

Our Creative Curriculum topic for this half of the Spring Term is Into the Woods. Please see overleaf for all the exciting learning that will be taking place this half term.

Recorder lessons will now be on Tuesdays. Please ensure your child has their recorder in school by Tuesday ready to learn new music!

We really enjoy seeing all the amazing, creative projects the children make to continue their learning at home. Please bring in any projects in to school on the week beginning Monday 30th March.

Homework

We will send home spellings throughout the term. These spellings will either be the Year 2 Statutory spellings or Year 2 spelling rules that will be reinforced in class. Please continue to support your child with the maths textbook homework we sent home last half term, if you need any support with this or have any questions please ask. We will continue to update Activelearn for any relevant maths, English or science homework.

Teachers & Support Staff

Miss Powell (2P) and Miss Brackenridge (2B) are the teachers working in Year 2. Mrs Barratt is our Learning Support Assistant.

Thank you for all your support. Let’s have a great second half term!
