Indoor Athletics Team – City Champions 2010
On Wednesday 8th December 2010 St Michael in the Hamlet Athletics Team won the Liverpool City Council Indoor Athletics Grand Final at Everton Park Sports Centre. We are now City Champions and this is the first time we have won since 2006. Competing against us were four other Area Champions: Liverpool College, King David, St Sebastian’s and Gladwys Street.
An extremely exciting evening ended with the Girls and Boys relay races. We were neck and neck on the same points exactly with Liverpool College. We won both relays, winning the whole event with a score of 123 points (Liverpool College 119, King David 86, St Sebastian’s 84 and Gladwys Street 78).
This is not the whole story as 3 of our regular athletes were off school and had to miss out on the night. These three children helped to get us into the final, which proves that St Michael in the Hamlet was successful because of a whole squad effort. Even more pleasing was the attitude of our children. They were impeccably behaved and very modest in victory.
A real credit to the school and to their parents/carers, well done indeed.
