Year 2 - Spring 2: Into the Woods !

Music: We will be looking at different genres of music this half term as well as playing instruments like a real band! First week back we have Rock Kidz so lots of singing and performing.

R.E: We will be learning about Judaism this half term.

P.E: We will be participating in team games, developing simple tactics for attacking and defending.

Art / DT: This half term our Art focus is patterns on the page. We will use the natural environment to draw inspiration for our creations.

Geography: We will be combining orienteering and map reading skills to navigate around the school grounds. We will then use our observations to create maps with keys.

History: We will be focusing on our local area and how it has changed both in living memory and across history.

Computing: We will continue developing our coding skills this half term then developing word processing skills.

Literacy: In Literacy we will be basing all of our work on the story ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ by Maurice Sendak. We will build up to write our own stories about a mystery creature. We will be looking at nonsense poetry and non-fiction features.

Maths: Our maths this term will be mainly focusing on multiplication and division. We will learn our 2, 5 and 10 times tables with their corresponding division facts. We learn how to find 1/2 , 1/4 , 2/4, 3/4, 1/3 and 2/3 of shapes and quantities. Emphasis on division as sharing, grouping and using the inverse multiplication will be looked at.

Enrichment / School Trip: Visits to the Wild Garden. *Project* -anything creative linked to any area of the curriculum. Visit to a Mosque.

PSHE: We’ll be focusing on a unit called ‘Money Matters’ this half term. On completion of this unit the children will have explored a range of issues in relation to realistic saving, earning, planning and budgeting.
