Nursery Newsletter

St. Michael in the Hamlet – Nursery Newsletter – March 2020

Welcome back to a new half-term and a new season!

This term our topic in Nursery is ‘Mini-beasts & Mega beasts’. It’s the perfect time of year to get outdoors and spot some creepy crawlies for our bug houses and go digging for dinosaur bones! We will be learning about mini-beasts in our gardens, before moving onto some mega beasts, like big cats and dinosaurs. Nursery will also have some new friends to look after in the form of ‘Sea Monkeys’!

We will be reading story books such as the Hungry Caterpillar, the Tiger Who Came to Tea and Dinosaurs Love Underpants. As already stated in the school newsletter, it is World Book Day on Thursday 5th March so we will be celebrating by coming into Nursery dressed as our favourite book characters!

As we draw closer to the summer term, we are having a big push on writing and mark making. If you could encourage your child to take their name tag from their peg and try copying their name onto one of the large pieces of paper on the writing table when they arrive in the morning this would really help them!

We are still encouraging our children to be as independent as possible by fastening their coats and being responsible for their own possessions. We would be grateful if you would ensure that all coats, jumpers and cardigans are clearly named.

If you need to speak to staff about your child, you can catch us in the morning or at the end of the day. Your child is working in a small key group during some morning activities so feel free to ask who their key worker is. For longer meetings, please make an appointment.

This term we will have a Stay and Play session for parents where you will have an opportunity to chat to the staff about your child. The date for this is: Wednesday 25th March at 8:45am-9:45am.

Please note that Friday 3rd April is a taster day for new children who will start in the summer. This means that current Nursery children will break up on Thursday 2nd April.

Thank you!
